Original Art-By Audrey Briggs

I painted this “Dementor” on 9.5″x7.75″ piece of birch wood. Inspired by the Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Using acrylic paint, once dry the piece was covered in gloss, for a glass look (difficult to see in the photo). The Dementor is set in front of the full moon, just after Prof. Lupin transforms into a werewolf.

I’m Going To London!

Only 6 days until I leave for London! I can’t wait!! I bought this flat iron at Boots the first time I went to London, 6 years ago. I had my travel converter, but my flat iron from the States still managed to blow out the power in my ENTIRE hotel, eeeeek, that was really embarrassing :/

This trip means a lot to me. I’m taking my son who’s 17 and my daughter who is 20. I’ve never taken my son out of the country before, and Sara and I can’t wait to share our love of England with him! I hope Ben’s experience in England will change his life and perspective on his life as it did for my daughter and I. πŸ™‚

Tube Map Of The Best Coffee Shops In London

Oh, how exciting this is! I admit, I am a coffee snob. I always bring my own coffee with me when I travel, yes, I am that bad, LoL! I came across this London “coffee” map online. This is really going to help me for my trip! My son is also a coffee connoisseur, he will appreciate this as well. Although I’m American, I’m not a big fan of Starbucks. The coffee’s are either too strong or they pump them up with syrup and creamers.

One place I’m looking forward to is Costa Coffee. Everything on their menu looks fantastic. Look at these beautiful pictures! Oh my!

If you’re traveling to London, and you’re a coffee hound like me, this map may be a valuable tool for you. Life is too short to drink bad coffee. I will let you know what I found and what I liked when I return from my trip.
Keep Calm and Coffee On!
Cheers πŸ™‚

How Safe Are We Really?

Flying is one of my favorite things to do! I love the hustle & bustle of airports, the excitement of people going to see loved one’s or going on a trip of a lifetime. I love the sound of the suitcase wheels rolling against the ground.

This was just a quick trip to Anaheim for the week-end. It doesn’t matter how many times I have flown, I always love looking out the window and take pictures. As I was snapping away taking photo’s, I noticed a screw missing on the right engine, see picture above. Hmmmmm, interesting. Probably not an issue, but how do I know for sure? I’m sure the pilot and crew are not going to fly a plane that is mechanically compromised, right?

I know there is a check list of sorts between flights. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an employee do a walk-a-round the airplane for a quick look. I could be wrong. I hope I’m wrong. The area missing the screw is a panel, that moves backwards to slow down the plane upon landing. Kind of important. Obviously the flight was fine, the landing was fine as well, but that missing screw doesn’t didn’t sit right with me.

What Would You Have Done?

Uh oh! I see a couple of faux pas here, but let’s talk about the shirt situation. Would you tell this person that his shirt is on inside out? Do you risk the chance of totally embarrassing the poor guy in a crowded airport? Or leave it alone and watch in horror as other people snicker?

Bernie Mev Walking Shoes

wpid-20140609_192104.jpg

I have to blog these shoes! You don’t understand-these are the best thing since sliced bread! My girlfriend at work bought them for her very first trip to Europe (Yay! She’s there right now!), and as soon as I stuck my foot inside her shoe, I had to have them as well!!

Why does everyone love them? They weigh next to nothing, seriously!! You can dress them up, or dress them down with jeans or shorts. These are stretchy, comfortable, stylish, they come in other styles and colors too. They have a bit of a wedge heel, which I like. Walking in “flats” for too long, kills my back. I paid $59.00, which I would gladly pay again for a 2nd pair.

Remember when I took my niece to Disneyland in April? I wore these shoes the whole trip! They passed the “Disney” test, so I will be wearing these on my next trip to Disneyland this Friday, with my sis. I promise you, these shoes will not disappoint you. They gently hug your feet with a nice soft, yet supportive soul! And the little collar on the back of the shoe, doesn’t bother me in the least, and I am ultra sensitive to details like that.

I’m also wearing these when I volunteer at the hospital. They’re great for running around as well as standing for long periods of time. Every time I wear these shoe’s, I sell at least a pair! To date, I have sold 12 pairs to both co-workers and strangers πŸ™‚

Click on the link to DSW. You can also find them on Amazon and other shoes stores, but DSW has the best prices I’ve seen.

Healthier Food Choices at Disney Parks

wpid-20140417_173932.jpgwpid-20140417_173927.jpg

I very rarely eat “fast food”. Sometimes when I travel I eat foods that I’m not use to, then I don’t feel so great. You know what I mean. You get that heavy, bloated feeling. It’s easy to find the fun stuff like pizza, churros or popcorn (see my upcoming post about that! LoL), but it’s not as fun as it use to be. I usually bring some food with me when I travel. Such as trail mix, instant oatmeal, protein bars, etc, but those aren’t meals. I like to have a least one real meal per day. When I took my niece to Disneyland a few weeks ago, she really liked to have 3 meals a day, LoL! I don’t like to eat that much, but this trip was about her, so we ate 3 square meals every day.

Look at this beautiful salad! That was my dinner. Complete with craisons, nuts and golden California raisins, my tummy was so happy! The dressing was a simple vinaigrette. Jessica chose a pesto and cheese filled ravioli, topped with pine nuts, tomatoes and a bit of Parmesan! Of course I had to try one πŸ˜‰ I stay away from pastas and cheeses, but this was a relatively “healthier” alternative to say, nacho’s or something.

You may have to search a bit to find healthier types of food, but it’s out there πŸ™‚

Disney Treats!

I will be blogging a few things from my recent trip down south to Disneyland. These candied apples are works of art! You can watch them being made, truly amazing. And the taste? Crisp green apple with a variety of chocolates. The mouse ears are made out of marshmallow. I bought a Minnie Mouse and the “Apple Pie” apples. I think for under $10.00, these are well worth the price.

Don’t Even Think About It!!

This is my 6 year old niece, on her way to Las Vegas with my sister. My sister went to get a Starbucks and told my niece to watch the luggage (with me there of course). Kat took those words very serious! You could not get those two suitcases off her legs if your life depended on it, hahaha! Notice her baby-booster seat in the seat next to her! Funny πŸ™‚
