I saw this and pulled over to take pictures. This is in Santa Cruz, CA.

This is a relatively new thing I’ve seen in the Bay Area.

Free books! You put one in and take one out, or vice versa. This amazing book case had adult books on the top………..

And kid stuff on the bottom! This is the fanciest one I’ve seen. Typically they resemble more of an open bird house on a pole. Now that I know this one exists, I’m going to take some books over and maybe find one to read 🙂 I’m sure these have been in other parts of the world long before we’ve had them here! Super cool though.

Hospital Volunteering

I can’t wait to start volunteering! It’s been such a long process. Blood testing, shots, background check, 2 orientations, quiz’s, essay’s. I finally got my “uniform”! On the 15th I will meet with my supervisor and pick out a department to work in. I am a “non compensated” employee, hahahaha. That’s a very nice way of saying “volunteer”. I’m hoping to work in the Emergency Department. I have one years previous experience at a different hospital, where I worked in Labor/Delivery, Pediatrics, and Post Postpartum. I am prepared to see unpleasant, sad and depressing things-it’s part of being in that environment. I’ve been through a lot in life and have so much understanding for people in pain (physical and emotional). If I can help someone by getting them a warm blanket, water, ice-chips, finding their nurse for them, or holding their hand-I consider that an honor. Of course there will be patients that won’t act appreciative, and that’s ok. I will take the good with the bad!!

Children’s Discovery Museum’s 15th annual Legacy for Children Award

49ers

As an educator, I was invited to attend this event with a few of my colleagues. It was fun having the owner of the 49’ers there this year. The 49’ers are only one of the large contributors in the Bay Area. Let’s not forget the San Francisco Giants and my San Jose Sharks! I’m the one on the left.

Children are our future-love, support and nurture each of them!

This was our dessert. I ate every single piece, even the 49’er sign was edible, LoL!

I am donating 2 pieces for the Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s Annual 6×6 Exhibit. This one, simply named “Pinwheel”, will be available for purchase in New York or on-line for $20 bucks. This is press-board, 6″x6″, acrylic, with a high gloss finish. This has a black background with several soft colors making the pinwheel design. Inspired by a Pinwheel Nebula. I love outer-space and science. The backside is affixed with a saw tooth hanger for easy hanging.

Most of my acrylic painting designs are based on how I’m feeling that day, simple as that 🙂
